About Gasnel Jacques

I’m an interdisciplinary designer & creative strategist working across apparel & fashion design, brand identity, with experience in product development & visual storytelling.

I recently graduated from Brooklyn College with a degree in Film, though my work & interests extend deeply into all things fashion– design, textiles, tailoring, and culturally informed design. Coming from a family lineage connected to garment construction and tailoring, I’ve developed a strong appreciation for clothing not only as product, but as history, identity, and cultural expression.

I had a formative experience studying abroad in Ghana which sparked a focused interest in textiles & iconography after learning about kente cloth & its relationship to storytelling, symbolism, and heritage. Since then, I’ve become increasingly curious in how design systems, material culture, and brand identity intersect through apparel.

Most recently, I worked on a collaborative collegiate apparel initiative at Brooklyn College, where I explored how clothing can function as both institutional identity & cultural expression. Through this work, I’ve collaborated with several administrative teams to develop garments from concept through production while thinking critically about branding, product design, storytelling, and the broader cultural role of fashion.
